When looking at body modification, I have always found it very interesting in why people modify they body in the way they do. After reading this bloggers post on scarification, I became aware of where and how scarification came to be. "Scarification has also been used much like tattooing in particular tribes around the world for such things as rites of passage out of adolescence" Before reading this bloggers comments I had no idea that scarification was used in particular tribes and to mark criminals, I always thought it was derived from people wanting more of a shock value.
